First Things First

OurHeart’sCry believes in “getting straight to the point”….specifically:

If you died today, are you certain you would go to heaven?

God’s Word says that you can KNOW for sure:

I John 5:13 says, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

You can KNOW that you will be in heaven when your days on earth are complete!

God loves you.  He always has, and He always will.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”(John 3:16).  Can you imagine that kind of love? Imagine no more…..God’s love is that “kind of love.”

Jeremiah 31:3 says, “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love.”  It’s a love that goes on and on….it will never end, or change!

God also wants us to have a full and abundant life.  That life is found in his Son, Jesus Christ.  “…I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10).  We will never experience that kind of fulfilling and abundant life through what the world would offer us, but only through knowing Jesus Christ.

However……we have a problem.  There is a division we have created between ourselves and God. God loves us, and in that love He has given us a free will to choose between right and wrong.  Many of the choices we decide upon are sinful and disobedient. These choices do not please God and creates a division between Him and us.

To say we have no sin in our lives at all is just simply adding more sin to our already existing sins!  Consider this:

-Do you ever desire or envy what someone else has?  God’s Word says we should not covet(desire to have) anyone’s possessions (Exodus 20:17).

-Have you ever felt hatred In your heart towards someone?  God’s Word says this is the same as murder, of which God commands us not to do: “Thou shalt not kill.” (Exodus 20:13). “Whoever hates his brother is a murderer.” (I John 3:15).

-Have you ever lied? “You shall not bear false witness (truths) against your neighbor.” (Exodus 20:16).

When asked again if there is sin in your life, it is clear we all can say “yes.”  It is inescapable, undeniable.  God’s Word says, “For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23). God is a holy God, and cannot look upon sin. Therefore, the sin that is in our lives separates us from God.  He has not separated Himself from us, but we, through our sins, have distanced ourselves from Him. We have caused that division.

God is just in His judgments, and requires payment for the sins we commit.  “For the wages of sin is death….” (Romans 6:23). Just as a worker is paid at a set time for the labor he performs (his wages), the “wages” we receive for the sins in our life is….death.  We deserve death for all the sins we commit against a holy and righteous God, but the remainder of Romans 6:23 states, “but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”  Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross paid my sin debt in full, once and for all; for all of eternity.

Jesus is the only way to restore the separation that exists between God and ourselves that WE have created through our sins.  Jesus paid the price for our sins.  Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates his love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”  We don’t have to wait to “get our lives straightened out” before coming to Him.  God loves us so much that even when we are fully enveloped in our sins, He makes the way available. He wants us to come to Him as we are, sinful, unrighteous, undeserving, and to allow Him to cleanse us from our sins. He wants us to act when we hear the truth. “…behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” (II Corinthians 6:2).

There is NO OTHER WAY to get to heaven than by Jesus Christ. “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6).  Jesus said He is the way to heaven, He is the truth, and life is in Him. He also said that He “stands at the door.” (Revelation 3:20) and “if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him….” (Rev. 3:20). Jesus is waiting for you.  He will not force you because He given you free will to choose to accept His invitation, or to decline.  He is calling you, waiting patiently and lovingly for your response. What will your response be? Do you sense Him calling You to Himself?

So here is where we are so far:

1) God loves you: He is “not willing that any should perish, but that all should   come to repentance.”  (2 Peter 3:9)

2) Sin separates you from God. “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.” (Isaiah 59:2)

3) Jesus Is The Only Way to heaven. “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6).

Will you trust Jesus for eternal life? Romans 10:9 says, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”  When we believe and confess Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, it is “made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:10).  Your sins will be forgiven, you will stand holy and righteous in God’s sight, and receive eternal life.

When you place your trust and faith in Jesus, you also become a child of God.  “But as many as received Him, to them gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.” (John 1:12).  It becomes your RIGHT to be called His child!

If you would like to place your trust and faith in the finished work of Jesus on the cross, and accept Him as your Savior and Lord right now, repeat this prayer:

Lord Jesus, I am a sinner, and I would like this day to turn from my sins.  I believe You died on the cross in payment for my sins. I believe You rose from the grave three days later in victory and defeat over death. I ask you to forgive my sins, and come in to my life.  I accept You as my Lord and Savior. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
